We reach out to all communities.
In addition to our regular concert series, the WCO brings music to Greater Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan areas that have less frequent exposure to live orchestral music.
In April 2015, we visited OrchKids of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, a year-round school music program, designed to create social change, and nurture promising futures for youth in Baltimore City neighborhoods. We performed a concert for these students grades k-6 in their gymnasium. During the program, we talked to them about the instruments and music we play, as well as how a chamber orchestra functions. Our goal was to create a fun and educational experience that fosters community growth.
In May 2015, the WCO participated in Fairfax Spotlight on the Arts. We received a grant to perform a concert that was free of charge and open to the public.
