WCO BENEFIT CONCERT for Food for the Hunger
with Violinist Kristin Lee

The Washington Chamber Orchestra (WCO) presents benefit concert: "Food for the Hungry" on May 20th and 21st. For this special event, WCO has partnered up with Food for Hunger (FH), an international organization that provides food for those who are less fortunate and starving. The majority of proceeds generated from the concerts will be donated to FH.

Violinist Kristin Lee, winner of 2015 Avery Fisher Award and 2012 Numburg Competition, will solo with the WCO performing Mozart's Fifth Violin Concerto. The concert will culminate with Beethoven's beloved 7th Symphony.

"THE SOUNDS OF SPRING"

Washington Chamber Orchestra presents its third concert cycle of the season "The Sounds of Spring".  Copland's most well known composition "Appalachian Spring" which was premiered in 1944 at the library of congress in Washington D.C, will be performed in its original version for 13 instruments by the members of WCO. WCO String players will also perform "Adagio for Strings" by Barber, considered to be a staple of elegiac music by many, and the concert will conclude with one of Dvorak's most familiar and popular pieces " Serenade for Strings"
