The Washington Chamber Orchestra will conclude its season featuring an award-winning Clarinetist, Alexander Filterstein, the winner of the Carl Nielsen Competition and a newly appointed faculty member at the Peabody Institute, to perform Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, which was the musical genius's last instrumental piece, and one of his most poignant concertos. The second movement, “Adagio,” was popularized by the film “Out of Africa.”

For one very special night, Korean Rising Star Pianist Seong Jin Cho, Gold Medalist of the 2015 Chopin Piano Competition, will perform a benefit performance with the Washington Chamber Orchestra. Concert proceeds will support the Washington Chamber Orchestra Endowment, ensuring its mission in the future, “Making Classical Music More Accessible to Everyone in the Community.”  The concert includes Seongjin Cho, performing Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1, the piece he played in the final round of the Chopin Competition.

The Washington Chamber Orchestra opens its season with Israeli-American cellist Amit Peled, with whom the WCO released its debut CD of the Schumann Cello Concerto to critical acclaim.  Amit Peled will perform Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C major, one of the most popular cello concertos now, but was presumed lost until 1961. Bruch’s Kol Nidrei, the work based on two Jewish themes, will also be performed.
